Departmental Results Report 2016–2017: Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy

The Canada School of Public Service (the School) is in the process of finalizing its Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy in order to support the Federal Sustainable Development Act and make environmental decision making more transparent and accountable to Parliament. In 2016–2017, the School contributed to the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy by implementing the Policy on Green Procurement as outlined in the table below:

Target 7.2: Green Procurement

As of April 1, 2014, the Government of Canada will continue to take action to embed environmental considerations into public procurement, in accordance with the federal Policy on Green Procurement.

It is a standard practice at the School to inform managers on the use of existing procurement instruments available through Public Services and Procurement Canada that address environmental considerations. The School also provides managers involved in the procurement process with information related to various policies and procedures, including the Policy on Green Procurement.

Strategic Environmental Assessment

During the 2016–2017 reporting cycle, the School considered the environmental effects of initiatives subject to the Cabinet Directive on the Environmental Assessment of Policy, Plan and Program Proposals as part of its decision-making processes. As the School did not develop any initiatives that required a Strategic Environmental Assessment, no related public statements were produced.
